Explanation
I teach it to help students remember how to solve the majority of basic equations. It is similar to PEMDAS but used for equations. Think of it as undoing PEMDAS, or working backwards. Each word's first letter matches the term it stands for.
- Do (Distribute)
- COMe (Combine Like Terms)
- AS (Add or Subtract, whichever needed to undo the given operation)
- My Date (Multiply or Divide; whichever undoes the given operation)
